Christmas Dinner Idea

by thelifestylesofpauline

This Christmas I will spend the actual day with my family but since I am leaving for France on the 22nd (my boyfriend leaves on the 23rd… go figure), we decided that we will prepare a little meal for the two of us on the 21st.

Since I enjoy cooking a lot I already made the menu and decided that I will take care of the food. Here is the menu I have planned out:

Entrée:

Fondant of bananas and goat cheese

Ingredients: (for 2)

-2 bananas

-2 slices of goat cheese

-1 small onion

-cooked ham (75g)

-herbs (I will use basil)

-sour cream

-salt and pepper

1)Slice the bananas and cut the onion as small as possible

2)Dispose on two plates

3)Add the diced cooked ham, the goat cheese, the herb and the sour cream

3)Add salt and pepper and put in the oven at 180 C ( for 20 to 30 minutes

I will serve it with salad

Main course:

Orange Turkey

Ingredients: (for 2)

-2 turkey breasts

-2 oranges

-ginger and saffron

-salt, pepper, sugar

-1 tablespoon of soy sauce

-1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar

-2 tablespoons of olive oil

1)Slice the turkey breasts

2)Prepare the marinade: take the juice of the two oranges, the spices, salt, pepper, sugar, soy sauce and balsamic vinegar

3)Put the turkey in the marinade and in the fridge for 1 hour

4)Heat the turkey in a pan with the olive oil for 5 to 7 minutes and take them out

5)Put the sauce in the pan and let it reduce to half and put the turkey back in

I’m still hesitating between serving it with balsamic rice or with green beans….

Dessert:

Compotée of apples, oranges and cinnamon

Ingredients: (for 2)

-2 apples

-1 orange

-cinnamon (powder)

-raisins (optional)

-vanilla sugar (optional)

1)Peal the apples and dice them

2)Put them in a saucepan

3)Zest the oranges and put them with the apples, add the juice as well

4)Sprinkle cinnamon over the apples and oranges. Optional: add the vanilla sugar and the raisins

5)Leave in the saucepan mixing from time to time. It is ready when the apples are easy to mash. Leave some apple cubes whole
